Former students of Pranab Mukherjee express deep grief after hearing news of teacher’s demise

Kolkata: In 1957, former President Pranab Mukherjee taught at Bankra Islamic High School in Howrah. He taught for three years in the institution. School alumni mourned the death of Pranab Mukherjee on August 31. Expressing deep grief, the students cherished the memories of him.

Former student Sheikh Golam Rasul in memory of Pranab Mukherjee said, “I remember what Pranab Sir used to teach. He taught in school in such a way that there was no need of any extra classes. His relationship with every student was good. Pranab Sir could solve any problem which the students brought to him. But he was very strict when it came to studies. Although his subject was Bengali, he also taught history and English to students.”

Pranab Mukherjee taught at the Islamic High School in Bankra for three years. Many of his students have gone on to establish themselves as successful individuals. After fighting for his life in hospital for 23 days, the country's first Bengali president finally gave in and breathed his last. Many students apart from Sheikh Golam Rasul have expressed deep grief over the death of Pranab Mukherjee.
