Soon after the cabinet reshuffling today, one of the first moves of the government -- that of renaming the high courts in Mumbai, Kolkatta and Chennai -- didn't go down too well with Twitterati.

Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, in a press conference, said, ”From now, Calcutta High Court will be known as Kolkata HC, Bombay HC as Mumbai HC and Madras HC as Chennai HC.

Renaming of cities, streets and historic buildings isn't a new phenomenon in India.

Even though disappointments have always been part of any renaming process, Twitterati did not miss a beat in condemning the move as unnecessary.

And it has happened. The Mumbai-isation of the Bombay High Court. What's next on the list? Bombay Dyeing? https://t.co/mjD1UHpszI
