Synopsis

Egypt says it has spotted the wreckage of the EgyptAir plane that crashed into the Mediterranean last month, killing all 66 people on board.


The committee said in a statement late today that a vessel contracted by the Egyptian government to join the search efforts for the data recorders and the wreckage of the doomed A320 " had identified several main locations of the wreckage, accordingly the first images of the wreckage were provided to the investigation committee."


Based on the wreckage locations; The search team and investigators on board the vessel will draw a map for the wreckage distribution spots, it added.

 

The passengers who died in the crash included 30 Egyptians, 15 French citizens, two Iraqis, two Canadians, and citizens of Algeria, Belgium, Britain, Chad, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and Sudan. According to the passenger list, a boy and two babies were on board when the mishap occurred. Seven crew and three security personnel were also killed in the crash.


No group has claimed the attack.
