Horrible India: Unknown persons smash window of new luxury superfast train even before maiden journey

The train fare of Tejas is three times the normal fare. This means, passengers have to pay anything between Rs 2,680 and Rs 1,680, depending on the choice of the passenger. The super luxury train was found vandalised when it reached Mumbai from where it was supposed to be flagged off. The compartments have CCTV cameras, coffee vending machines and GPS systems.

In a few shocking visuals that hit the Internet, the brand new Tejas Express was seen vandalised by unknown people. It is likely to embark on its maiden journey from Mumbai to Goa soon. However, when it arrived in Mumbai from Delhi, the glass panes of the windows were found broken. 

Suresh Prabhu, the Union Railway Minister is likely to flag off the train today from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST). The rakes were earlier inspected by him in Delhi. He had mentioned in the 2016 budget speech that Tejas can be considered as the future of travelling by trains in India.

The train is equipped with all the basic amenities, including "Lazy Boy" type recliners, USB charging port, LED TVs, at the back of the seat, coffee vending machines, GPS-based information displays and CCTV cameras. 

As per the fare chart released by he Railway ministry on Saturday, passengers travelling in first air-conditioned compartment or the chair car will have to pay almost three times the normal fare to reach Karmali. In other words, Tejas commuters will have to shell out Rs 2,680 for first AC compartment and Rs 1,680 per person for Chair Car compartment, the basic fare of Jan Shatabdi train varies from Rs 500 to Rs 900, depending on the choice of the compartment.
