Devastating Cyclone Mora with speed of 100-150 Kmph to affect these six states

Synopsis

The devastating Cyclone Mora that is travelling at the speed of almost 150 kmph has already hit the coast of Bengal The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted Cyclonic storm over Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh The region saw extensive damage during the 2012 Brahmaputra floods owing to storms and heavy rainfall and will be the most affected by Cyclone Mora

The devastating Cyclone Mora that is travelling at the speed of almost 150 kmph has already hit the coast of Bengal and has caused a landslide in the city of Chittagong, Bangladesh.

The cyclone formed over the Bay of Bengal and moving with great speeds towards North East India. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted Cyclonic storm over Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh and extremely heavy rainfall over Assam and Meghalaya.

Gale winds speed reaching 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph would prevail over Mizoram and Tripura on May 30. Squally winds speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph would prevail over South Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur on May 30 and along & off West Bengal coast on May 30.

Damage is expected to thatched huts, power lines, roads and crops in Mizoram and Tripura. 

The Mizoram government has issued a warning and advised people to take preventive measures. Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet is on the highest alert. 

The region saw extensive damage during the 2012 Brahmaputra floods owing to storms and heavy rainfall. Several died and close to six million people were displaced. 540 animals, including 13 rhinos, were killed in the Kaziranga National Park in Assam. This region will be the most affected by Cyclone Mora.
