Despite coronavirus pandemic, Bengaluru brothels remain active; CCB rescues 27 girls

 The Central Crime Branch (CCB), Bengaluru raided a brothel house and rescued 27 young girls mostly from central and northern states  

Bengaluru: Sensing something fishy at a big house in Bengaluru’s Puttenahalli (JP Nagar) as many boys visited the premises frequently, the public tipped off police.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) team headed by ACP Mudvi on directions from DCP, crime, Kuldeep Kumar Jain, raided the house on Thursday evening (July 2) and were shocked to see 27 young girls involved in prostitution.

The police revealed that the girls were from places like Nepal, Delhi, Punjab, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh. They were all pushed into flesh trade.

According to the DCP, among the rescued women, nine each are from Nepal and Punjab, four from Delhi, two from Maharashtra and one each from Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.

Police which kept a close watch on Rajasthan-based pimp Yogesh, arrested him and his two accomplices.

Investigation is underway to unearth his network in other parts of the city. An officer said, Puttenahalli in south Bengaluru is a posh area and it is surprising to see such illegal activity being carried despite police patrolling and many officials keeping a tap on public movements.
