 President Ram Nath Kovind suspended the vice chancellor with immediate effect and ordered enquiry into allegations of dereliction of duties against him.

Delhi University Vice Chancellor Professor Yogesh Tyagi has been suspended

President Ram Nath Kovind suspended the vice chancellor with immediate effect and ordered enquiry into allegations of dereliction of duties against him.

The suspension order noted that Professor Tyagi had failed to discharge duties and responsibilities entrusted to him, especially with regard to appointment to vacant positions.

The order states that despite repeated follow-ups from the ministry, key posts like those of the pro vice Chancellor, registrar, controller of examinations, finance officer, college principals and dean of colleges among others remained vacant. 

Certain vigilance complaints and sexual harrassment cases in the Delhi University also remain pending, it added.
