Delhi-Amritsar Passenger Puts Indian Railways Complaint System To Test, Viral Video Wins Internet (WATCH)

Synopsis

An Indian Railways passenger, Manoj Malhotra, tested the onboard cleaning complaint number during a trip from Delhi to Amritsar. He was pleasantly surprised when housekeeping staff arrived at his seat in under two minutes, an experience he captured in a viral video praising the prompt service.

An Indian Railways passenger expecting a typical ‘please wait’ experience ended up getting a surprise instead: housekeeping staff at his seat in under two minutes. Passenger Manoj Malhotra posted a video on Instagram that went viral after he tested a cleaning complaint number that was advertised inside his train carriage while travelling from Delhi to Amritsar. The video showed how quickly he obtained a response.

Malhotra claims that after seeing the official housekeeping helpline number inside the coach, he made the decision to find out if the service was indeed operational or if it was "just another number pasted on the wall." In the now-viral clip, he can be seen calling the railway service line and providing details such as the train number, coach and seat location. What happened next genuinely surprised him.

“During my train journey from Delhi to Amritsar, I saw a cleaning complaint number on the train. So I thought I'd test it to see if anyone actually comes or if it's just a number,” he said in the video.

According to Malhotra, he made the call at 12:51 p.m. Housekeeping personnel had reached his seat at 12.53 p.m. In the video, railway cleaning personnel can be seen reacting swiftly to the complaint and starting the cleaning process nearly as soon as they find the carriage.

Malhotra claims that the employees also informed him that he didn't absolutely need to contact the helpline. They clarified that just telling the bus attendant would have also prompted an answer.

Malhotra's response to the event itself struck a particularly deep chord with internet watchers. In the caption, he added, "To be honest, it was heartwarming." "The staff even cleaned up, the train arrived on schedule, and the service was prompt."

He acknowledged that the occurrence could appear insignificant, but he maintained that such tiny advances are indicative of larger shifts in public infrastructure and service effectiveness.

Online users responded favourably to the film right away, with many reporting similar experiences of better train services in recent years. Others commended the cleaning crew for their prompt response in spite of the difficult nature of train operations.

The video caught something that is rarely seen in complaints about public transport: prompt response, which made it stand out for a lot of viewers.
