CPI MP slams Rahul Gandhi's 'irresponsible' remarks against Vijayan

CPI MP P Sandosh Kumar lambasted Rahul Gandhi for his "irresponsible" comments against Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, where Gandhi accused the CM of being "controlled" by the BJP. Kumar called Rahul an "outdated leader" disconnected from reality.

Rahul's Remarks 'Irresponsible': CPI MP

Communist Party of India (CPI) MP P Sandosh Kumar on Wednesday said that recent remarks made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against Keralam Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan were "irresponsible" and said the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Lok Sabha was acting as an "outdated leader" who is disconnected from reality. Gandhi, during his visit to Kerala, accused Pinarayi Vijayan of being "compromised" and "controlled" by the BJP.

Reacting to this, Kumar stated Rahul should refrain from making these kinds of comments. "The point is that Rahul Gandhi's remarks are quite irresponsible and untruthful. Actually, we are ashamed of even making a comment on his speeches. Because in Kerala, he is acting as a separate kind of creature. We don't know who is advising him and why he is making all these nonsense statements. The thing is that while in Kerala, he is acting not as an opposition leader, but as an outdated leader who is disconnected from reality," said Kumar.

"He is supposed to be the leader of the INDIA alliance. Rahul should refrain from making these kinds of comments, but I don't think there is anything to say," he added.

LDF Rewrote Political History: MA Baby

Meanwhile, Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary MA Baby said that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) under Keralam Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan rewrote the history of political experience of the state by advancing from 91 seats to 99. "Five years ago, in the Kerala State Assembly Elections, people were generally feeling that the Kerala pattern of changing the government once in five years was what was going to happen. But LDF under Pinarayi Vijayan rewrote the history of recent political experience, and not only did LDF win elections, but LDF improved its position from 91 seats it went up to 99," Baby told ANI.

Upcoming Kerala Assembly Elections

The polling for Keralam Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on April 9, with counting of votes scheduled for May 4.

Kerala has traditionally followed an alternating pattern of governance, switching between the LDF and the United Democratic Front (UDF) every five years since 1982. This trend was broken in 2021 when the LDF, led by Pinarayi Vijayan, was re-elected for a second consecutive term.

During this election, the Congress-led UDF seek to unseat the incumbent CPI(M)-led LDF and gain control of the 140-member assembly. The LDF-led government has governed the state for around a decade.

Around 2.7 crore electors are expected to participate in the election. (ANI)
