As over 31,000 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Karnataka, here are some of the people in power who could not escape the virus
Bengaluru: The disease does not see any person, it just strikes. In case of Karnataka, this is what exactly has happened to both the Congress and BJP camps after its leaders tested positive for COVID-19.
To begin with the Congress, HD Ranganath from Tumakuru district was infected with the virus. The leader contacted the infection after he attended the swearing-in ceremony of DK Shivakumar as Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president on July 2.
Few days later, the BJP leader Bharath Shetty from Mangaluru north is said to have contacted the virus. The Dakshina Kannada district is one among the COVID hotspots. The cases surged after unlock and many from abroad returned to their natives.
Another person to have been diagnosed with the coronavirus is Congress veteran Janardhana Poojary.
Two days ago, Mandya MP Sumalatha also sent out a message through her Twitter account about her condition as she tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
This apart, independent MLA from Hoskote, Sharath Bachegowda also tested positive. All the political leaders, who have tested positive, are undergoing treatment.
