Coronavirus: India registers 18,522 new COVID-19 cases, 418 fatalities

The death toll in India due to the novel coronavirus pandemic rose to 16,893, the health ministry stated

New Delhi: With a spike of 18,522 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, India's coronavirus count now stands at 5,66,840, said the Union health and family welfare ministry on Tuesday (June 30).

Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in India includes cases involving foreign nationals, patients who have recovered and the death toll.

As many as 418 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Union health ministry.

The death toll in India due to the novel coronavirus pandemic rose to 16,893, the health ministry stated.

The active COVID-19 cases in India now stand at 2,15,125, according to the Union health ministry.

As many as 3,34,821 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far, the latest health bulletin said.

With 1,69,883 confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state in the country, followed by Tamil Nadu (86,224) and Delhi (85,161).

As per the ministry, Maharashtra is the worst-hit state with regard to the COVID-19 cases and has reported 1,69,883 cases, including 73, 313 active cases 88,960 cured/discharged patients and 7,610 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu has a total of 86,224 cases including 1,141 deaths. Delhi's COVID-19 count stands at 85,161 cases and 2,680 fatalities.

In its daily update, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said the total number of samples tested up to June 29 is 86,08,654 of which 2,10,292 samples were tested yesterday (June 29).
