Coronavirus in India: Patient recovers, condition stable, says Kerala health department

Kerala health minister KK Shailaja said that the first patient who tested positive for coronavirus in India is presently stable and she has been shifted to medical college for better treatment  

Thrissur: Kerala native who tested positive for coronavirus is stable and has been shifted to Thrissur medical college for better treatment. Kerala health minister KK Shailaja said the patient is improving and others who are admitted with symptoms are also not critical.

The victim, who has tested positive for the coronavirus, was studying at a university in China's Wuhan.

Meanwhile, 64 isolation rooms have been set up in various government hospitals. Additionally, 85 isolation wards and 15 intensive care units are ready in private hospitals.

Ten ambulances are on standby in Thrissur to ferry people exhibiting infection symptoms to hospitals.

A special Air India flight carrying 324 Indians who were evacuated from the coronavirus-hit Chinese city of Wuhan landed in the national capital on Saturday morning.

The Boeing 747 Jumbo aircraft had taken off from Wuhan's Tianhe International Airport in the early hours of Saturday and landed here at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi at 7:26 am. The passengers, mostly students, will be kept in isolation for 14 days at the ITBP centre in Chhawla in the national capital upon their arrival.

Fake news creators to be punished:

The health minister said those who create and spread fake news, rumours and panic would be strictly punished.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses, which cause illnesses to people and also circulate in animals including camels, cats and bats. Animal coronaviruses can also evolve and infect people.
