A ‘Baba’ who treated COVID-19 patients with kisses, has now spread the infection among 85 contacts. The ‘Baba had claimed he could cure the virus but he could not save himself and died on June 4
Ratlam: The Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh has made headlines as a godman named Aslam Baba who claimed that the coronavirus (COVID-19) cannot enter his body and can cure his patients, especially women by kissing their hands, died on June 4.
Now, 85 persons in the state who had come in contact with him have tested positive. Among them, 24 who had direct contact and were kissed by Baba were infected first and have spread the virus among others in Nayapura area through contacts.
According to the state health and family welfare department officials, Ratlam district had 46 COVID-19 active patients out of which these 24 are added now.
Despite measures, the cases are only surging and even former Union minister and BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia and his mother are said to be infected in Madhya Pradesh.
The health department has made announcements that the public should be careful and should not fall for rumours and talks about a possible cure for the virus. The list of things to avoid includes no self medication, witchcraft, any alternative medicine or drinking gaumutra as cure for COVID-19.
In Madhya Pradesh, as on Wednesday, there were 10,049 coronavirus cases while the number of deaths registered so far is 427.
