Coronavirus: 2 women who lost job during lockdown turn to prostitution to feed families

Working women who took pride in supporting their families ended up as prostitutes in Nagpur as they lost jobs following the coronavirus lockdown

Nagpur: A poor woman working at a private firm in Gujarat and another as a private hospital attendant in Nagpur, had to turn to prostitution to feed their families as they lost their jobs due to the coronavirus lockdown in the country.

According to Koradi Police, on a tipoff that a house in Nagpur gets crowded by unknown men and it has few young women, they suspected something was wrong.

Police then arranged a decoy who approached a Tamil Nadu-based pimp named Chandrasekhar Subramanian Mudaliyar, 46. The unsuspecting pimp had a conversation and accepted Rs 3,000 cash. This was enough as a police team in plain clothes swung into action and raided the place.

Police found two women in compromising positions and rescued them. When asked about why and how they got into this profession, the duo got emotional and revealed that they both were working women and supported their families back home.

After the lockdown they lost jobs and were in need of money to make ends meet and that is when they got in touch with Mudaliyar who offered money for their ‘services’.

An offence under sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act has been registered in this connection.
