
Bengaluru: Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa has said that there is no question of protecting anyone involved in the drug racket.
This is the first time the chief minister has responded to the drug mafia case going on in Karnataka.
Speaking to the media on Monday evening, BS Yediyurappa said, “This is the first time in the country that we have taken strong actions against use of drugs. We must end drug business and the harm drugs are causing to students and the youth”.
Commenting on the same, home minister Basavaraj Bommai stated that there was no question of pressure of influence to be put into the case investigation, as there was a lot of existing information linked to the case.
Bengaluru Police have booked 12 people, including Kannada actor Ragini Dwivedi, in a first information report on drug consumption by celebrities.
Other accused include Viren Khanna, a party organiser from Delhi who was arrested on Friday; Prashanth Ranka; Vaibhav Jain; Aditya Alva, the son of former minister Jeevaraj Alva and brother-in-law of Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi; Loum Pepper Samba, a Senegalese national; Prashanth Raju; Ashwin; Abhiswami; Rahul Thonshe, a friend of actress Sanjjanaa Galrani, and Vinay.
