Class 4 student rape in washroom: Absconding BJP leader, teacher arrested

According to the reports, the Class 4 student was raped by the teacher in the school washroom. A BJP leader has also been arrested in connection with the case  

Kannur: Kerala Police have arrested BJP Thrippangottur panchayat committee president and schoolteacher Kuniyil Padmarajan for allegedly raping a class 4 student in a school washroom. The teacher was arrested from his friend's place where he was hiding. 

According to the victim, though Saturday was a holiday, the teacher had called her to school, saying that there was NSS class and allegedly raped her. Medical tests proved that the girl was subjected to sexual abuse.

The incident took place in March and the family of the girl first lodged a complaint with the Thalassery deputy superintendent of police. Later, Panoor police registered a case and began investigation. Soon after this, the accused went absconding and the circle inspector was transferred. The newly appointed CI continued the investigation.

The student’s aunt told police that Pamarajan had threatened to kill the girl if she informed anyone of the incident.

Meanwhile, school management said that the teacher was suspended from service.
