Synopsis

The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) elected Chirag Paswan as the leader of the LJP Parliamentary Party. Chirag Paswan won the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat in Bihar, defeating his closest rival from the RJD by over 1.70 lakh votes.

The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) in a meeting on Friday (June 07) in Delhi elected Chirag Paswan as the leader of the LJP Parliamentary Party.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the LJP (Ram Vilas) extended “unconditional” support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the BJP-led NDA’s victory in the just-concluded Lok Sabha polls is the "victory of his leadership", said Chirag Paswan.

On Wednesday, BJP-led NDA leaders unanimously elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi as their leader. They passed a resolution emphasizing the government's dedication to serving marginalized groups, including the poor, women, youth, and farmers.

"We extended our support to the prime minister and his leadership at yesterday’s meeting. We humbly accepted his leadership without any condition", Paswan told reporters when asked about the Wednesday meeting.

Chirag Paswan won the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat in Bihar, defeating his closest rival from the RJD by over 1.70 lakh votes, according to the Election Commission. Paswan polled 6.14 lakh votes, while his nearest rival Shiv Chandra Ram got 4.44 lakh votes. Paswan gave up his Jamui seat, where he was serving his second consecutive term, to contest from Hajipur, which was represented by his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan, eight times.
