Centre suggests Karnataka to concentrate on 9 districts with highest COVID-19 deaths

The Centre on September 23 suggested that Karnataka must concentrate more on nine districts that have a greater number of COVID-19 deaths recorded. The Centre has asked the state to increase surveillance and RT PCR tests. 

Bengaluru: The Centre on September 23 has suggested that Karnataka must concentrate more on nine districts that have the highest COVID-19 deaths recorded.

Despite the state saying that the increase in the number of tests was helping it to bring down positivity and case fatality steadily, the Centre has asked the state to concentrate on the nine districts.

Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa stated this while taking part in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s video conference with CMs of seven states that have high prevalence of COVID-19 cases and briefed him on the steps taken to control the virus.

A statement by the Chief Minister’s Office said the Centre stated that Karnataka has been conducting tests in a scientific way and asked it to increase surveillance and RT PCR tests threefold.

The centre also asked the state to concentrate more on nine districts where the highest number of deaths have been recorded.

The Centre has suggested a mission mode approach in the next six months, with strict enforcement in containment zones and dynamically redefining them and re-testing of all symptomatic negatives of antigen tests.

Health Minister B Sriramulu, Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar and Chief Secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar were among those present at the meeting with the Chief Minister.
