The BJP has slammed the West Bengal government for using a pink substance, which it termed as election ink, on its cadre during the protests in Kolkata.

"Coloured water poured to identify a person post dispersal for further necessary action if required," he said.
The protest rally organised by the youth wing of the BJP outside Nabanna, the West Bengal Secretariat, in Howrah district turned violent when protesters tried to break police barricades and forces retaliated with lathi charge and tear gas.
"Several policemen have been injured in the clashes," the chief secretary said.
Countering the allegation, BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said: "We are protesting democratically, but Mamata Ji has tried to turn our peaceful demonstration into a violent protest. Goons along with police pelted stones at us."
