Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra has been given responsibility for the West Bengal Assembly elections by the BJP after his success in the Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat polls.
Bhartiya Janata Party has assigned Narottam Mishra the responsibility of 48 assembly seats in the state of West Bengal.
Mishra, who is the home minister of Madhya Pradesh, reached Kalna block of Bardhman district on Tuesday on a four-day visit where he met the party leaders and workers to plan the next move.

Mishra, who had been active during the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in Bundelkhand in 2017 and later in Gujarat, is the third leader from Madhya Pradesh after BJP's West Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayavargiya and former organising general secretary of MP, Arvind Menon, who has been entrusted with an important responsibility by the party. With the new assignment, the stature of Mishra has also increased in the party.
As per reports, the BJP has appointed Mishra as in-charge of 48 assembly seats in Asansol and Bardhman areas of West Bengal.
After his arrival in Bardhaman district, the BJP workers welcomed Mishra and conducted a local contact drive. Mishra also appealed to the people to support BJP in the coming elections.

The BJP leader, accompanied by Bardhman district president Krishna Ghosh, state secretary Vivek Sonkar and district general secretary Vishwajit Poddar, also visited Kalna Vidhan Sabha No 254.
After Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, the BJP's entire focus is now on the assembly elections in West Bengal which are likely to be held in 2021 for 294 seats.
