BJP chief JP Nadda to visit north Bengal today

Synopsis

BJP national president JP Nadda will visit North Bengal today (October 19) to take stock of organisational matters, ahead of 2021 Assembly elections. Mr Nadda, along with senior party leaders such as national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, vice-president Mukul Roy, will interact with booth and district- level leaders, on the occasion.  

BJP national president JP Nadda will visit North Bengal today (October 19) to take stock of organisational matters, ahead of 2021 Assembly elections.

JP Nadda is scheduled to arrive at Bagdogra airport from Delhi at 11 am. Nadda will then head towards Siliguri Nauka Ghat leading a procession alongside party workers and supporters from the airport where he will be paying homage to the statue of Thakur Panchanan Barma. JP Nadda will also be attending puja at Anandamayee Kalibari Mandir.

JP Nadda will attend a Karyakarta Baithak at 12.40 pm on Sevoke Road after puja. He is set to meet the representatives of various communities here at 3 pm.

Mr Nadda, along with senior party leaders such as national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, vice-president Mukul Roy, will interact with booth and district-level leaders, on the occasion.

Kailash Vijayvargiya, National General Secretary, BJP, and in-charge of Bengal said, “There's no rally, it's just a meeting of our workers and as I said that we will be following the protocols of Covid-19. It will be a meeting of a limited number of people. It will be about the election and how to go about it in north Bengal.”

With the BJP''s strength increasing manifold over the last few years in Bengal, where it has never been in power, party leaders have expressed confidence that the saffron surge will end Mamata Banerjee's decade-long rule in the state.

After decades of limited presence in the politically polarised state, the BJP emerged as the main rival of the ruling TMC in 2019, winning 18 of 42 Lok Sabha seats.
