Bengaluru's COVID-19 fatality rate lowest among major Indian cities: Sudhakar

Synopsis

In a report shared by K Sudhakar, it is learnt that Bengaluru's Covid-19 case fatality rate (1.1%) is the lowest among all major cities in India. The minister took to twitter to share the information.

Bengaluru: Bengaluru's COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.1%, which is the lowest among all major cities in the country.

The information was shared by Karnataka Health Minister Sudhakar K said on Wednesday.

"With 3,36,880 recoveries and 17,707 active cases as on Tuesday, the city's recovery rate stands at a healthy 93.94 per cent and active rate stands at 4.93 per cent", he tweeted, quoting a TOI report.

While Bengaluru has the lowest fatality rate, Ahmedabad has the highest with 4.0%. Other major cities which have a fatality rate higher than Bengaluru are Mumbai (3.1), Kolkata (2.3), Surat (2.1).

Active cases in Karnataka have dropped further to 25,323 on Tuesday from 26,103 active cases recorded on Monday.   

On Tuesday, Karnataka reported 1,336 new cases of COVID-19 and 16 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 8,64,140 and the death toll to 11,557 in the State.

Other districts that reported the most cases on November 17 were Tumkur (89), Mysuru (52), Bengaluru Rural (40), and Mandya (38). The death toll rose to 11,557 as 16 more deaths in the last few days were linked to the pandemic on Tuesday.
