
Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday distributed books to children, who had lost their textbooks and notebooks after flood water entered their houses in Hosakerehalli, on October 23.
Hosakerehalli had been one of the most affected areas and the Chief Minister himself visited the area assuring help to the residents.
Yediyurappa invited the children to his home and handed over notebooks, besides giving Rs 5,000 to each of them to purchase textbooks.
According to the Chief Minister’s office, Yeddyurappa interacted with Sanjana, Spandana and Ramesh and told them to focus on studies.
On Friday night after heavy rain in Bengaluru, several areas in the city were hit by floods. Traffic was disrupted on Mysuru Road, Silk Board junction, Hosur road, Bannerghatta road, Basavanagudi, Nayandahalli, RR Nagar, BG Road, and other roads.
The Chief Minister had inspected the areas on Saturday morning and directed officials to immediately provide financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to close to 344 families affected by the floods.
