 Union minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Babul Supriyo’s mother Sumitra Baral passed away on Thursday (December 10) at a hospital in Gurgaon. 

Union minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Babul Supriyo’s mother Sumitra Baral passed away on Thursday (December 10) at a hospital in Gurugaon. She was 72 years old. Union Minister Babul Supriyo mourns the loss of his mother.

Babul Supriyo, the Minister of State (MoS) for environment, forest and climate change, took to Twitter and posted a black and white picture of his mother with a caption that read: "Maaaa is Gone.. to a place of no return.. Today I want to believe in rebirth Maa because I want u as my Maa in all my lives, for eternity..[sic]".

"The 'Mama's Boy' has grown 20 years older in less than 20 hours Maa. And, Thanks to everyone who reached out to me. Means a lot," Babul Supriyo's tweet further read.

 

According to sources, Sumitra Baral, the mother of Babul Supriyo, was admitted to a hospital in Gurgaon for the last three weeks. In the hospital, she underwent a COVID test but the report came negative. 

However, Supriyo’s father was tested COVID positive. He was also admitted to the hospital. He has recovered and returned home. The demise of Babul Supriyo’s mother has cast a shadow of mourning in the family.
