Amazon India opens its largest fulfilment centre in Karnataka; CM BS Yediyurappa inaugurates

Amazon India has announced that it is opening its largest specialized fulfilment centre in India at Kolar in Karnataka. The fulfilment centre was virtually inaugurated by Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Kolar: Ahead of its month-long Great Indian Festival sale, Amazon India has announced that it is opening its largest specialized fulfilment centre in India at Kolar in Karnataka.

With the storage capacity of more than 1.2 million cubic feet, Amazon said that the new fulfilment centre is specialised to store and manage customer orders from the large appliances and furniture category.

Amazon will now offer storage capacity of more than 4 million cubic feet across 4 fulfilment centres to its close to 35,000 sellers in Karnataka.

The fulfilment centre was virtually inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, along with Amit Agarwal, Senior Vice President, Amazon India.

The chief minister, who addressed the inaugural function through video conferencing, expressed his happiness that Amazon India Ltd was expanding its activities in the state by opening its Bengaluru centre by enlisting over 3,300 retail sellers and providing them a national marketing platform.

Yediyurappa urged Amazon India Ltd to give importance to promoting Karnataka’s handicrafts products.

Amazon India vice president Chetan Krishnaswamy explained that Amazon invests in creating specialized infrastructure and has already established nine fulfilment centres in the country along with 33 delivery stations to support the growth of large appliance and furniture categories.

Amazon India has established fulfilment centres in Karnataka, Haryana, Telangana, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
