Bengaluru: Weeks before the first votes are cast in Bihar, the Lok Janshakti Party threw a spanner in the works of the National Democratic Alliance in Bihar. The LJP, now commandeered by late Ram Vilas Paswan’s son Chirag Paswan, is going alone in the Bihar elections.
For now, the BJP and Janata Dal-United combine is confident of sailing through unscathed.
Asianet Newsable caught up with BJP national general secretary CT Ravi to understand the inside track on the BJP’s gameplan.
Q: If the JD-U gets fewer seats than BJP, will the latter push its candidate as CM?
Ravi: Even if JD-U gets fewer seats, Nitish Kumar will be our CM. Our party has already declared that the BJP will fight elections under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. He is our chief minister now and will be so in the future.
Q: With LJP distancing itself from the NDA in Bihar, will it eat into the vote share of the BJP and JD-U?
Ravi: We can't say for now if it will. NDA is strong there (in Bihar) under Nitish Kumar. We will face the election.
