It would seem neither creativity nor private property is respected in India. The stealing of a boat from an advertisement hoarding is a perfect example of an inevitable event in this nation.
Aircel had put up a hoarding with a real boat on it in Guwahati, Assam, declaring their intention that the vessel should be used during a flood. It even requested people in its advertisements to make use of the boat during an emergency.
But even before the rains picked up pace, some unknown persons have stolen the boat from the hoarding. It would seem that they took the hoarding's slogan - ‘Travel with our network in the monsoon season’ a little too literally.
It is strange that Aircel did not anticipate this situation. The company had put up the boat at a cost of ₹2.5 lakh. The hoarding claimed that similar boats had been used during other floods.
Aircel has filed a case with the Guwahati police with this regard.
