Nearly 7.5 lakh jobs vacant in central government departments

Synopsis

A total of 33.01 lakh persons are working for the Centre as against 40.48 lakh sanctioned strength as on January 1, 2014, he said in a written reply to Lok Sabha, quoting Seventh Central Pay Commission’s report.

 

The total number of vacancy is 7.47 lakh, he said.

 

The 7th Pay Commission had submitted its report on November 19, 2015, with the Centre accepting most of its recommendations.

 

The pay panel had recommended a 2.5 times hike in basic pay and pensions that will cost the exchequer annually Rs 1.02 lakh crore, which the government says will have a multiplier effect on the economy.
