Nine year old environment activist Licypriya Kangujam was briefly detained by the Delhi police on Sunday for protesting against climate change in a high-security zone in the national capital.
Kangujam claims she was detained along with 12-year-old activist Aarav Seth for raising their voice on climate change.
Kangujam has been staging protests at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi carrying placards demanding that the Centre pass a climate change law to tackle the air pollution crisis at the national capital.
After being released, Kangujam said: "Air pollution is not a political crisis. It's a public health crisis and the failure of our system. Stop politicising and blame game. Atleast think for your children and grandchildren. Act now."
Licpriya has been campaigning for environmental protection and has used several natural calamities to focus the government's attention on climate change.
She has won the International Children's Peace Prize and India Peace Prize for her work as an environmental activist.
