10 more test positive in Kannur; ‘triple lock’ implemented in district

The increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Kannur have caused officials to impose a triple lock movement control system in the district on Monday. Today Kannur has reported 10 more coronavirus positive cases.

The government has imposed a ‘triple lock’ movement control system in Kannur after the district reported six COVID-19 cases yesterday. Today the district reported 10 more cases.

Among them, nine have had a travel history abroad and one person contracted the virus from an infected patient.

This is a new control measure from the district administration to prevent people from going out and mingling with each other. Kannur which has reported a total of 52 cases as on Monday, has become a 'red zone' in Kerala where lockdown will continue without any relaxations until May 3. The red zones in the state are namely, Kannur, Kasaragod, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts which top the list of infections in the state.

People of the district have been facing a lot of difficulties during the lockdown period.

The cases of COVID-19 are increasing in Kannur by the day.

Triple lock system, by definition, is a protective system that uses three separate safeguards to make sure that the lockdown will be followed as it must be. The police had earlier requested all residents to stay at home. Stringent action will be taken against defaulters if caught violating lockdown protocol.
