It is pertinent to mention here that the troops of India and China have been engaged into border standoff along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh since early May 2020.

"Military doctors and other medical staffs who have been at the forefront in fighting coronavirus disease will be given top priority," the sources said.

"The front-line troops have also been identified for vaccination," the officials said.

Indian Army chief Gen MM Naravane during an annual press conference ahead of 73rd Army Day in Delhi said, "The last year was full of challenges and we had to walk the talk and meet the challenges. We did so and came out on the top. The main challenge was COVID-19 and the situation at the northern borders."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on Saturday to start Covid-19 vaccination in the country. A total of 3,006 vaccination centres will be part of this drive.
