Uttarakhand War Memorial to receive MiG-21 airframe, warship model soon

Synopsis

The assurance came from Chief of the Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat after Shaurya Sthal chairman Tarun Vijay called on him in his South Block office in the national capital.

A grand war memorial named 'Pancham Dham' being built in Dehradun to honour martyrs from the Uttarakhand will soon receive a MiG-21 airframe and the warship model from the Indian Navy.

The assurance came from Chief of the Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat after Shaurya Sthal chairman Tarun Vijay called on him in his South Block office in the national capital.

Tarun Vijay disclosed that General Rawat has assured all help to the War memorial and the arrival of the MiG-21 airframe and the warship model.

Gen Rawat also assured to have a name search app installed at the Memorial, as suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when Tarun Vijay had met him regarding the War Memorial.

The war memorial is the idea of Tarun Vijay who sent his first letter sanctioning Rs 2 crores from his MPLADS funds on July 5, 2011. 

The name 'Pancham Dham' carries a reference to chardham, the four revered Himalayan temples located in the state

Ahead of the meeting, Tarun Vijay also presented General Bipin Rawat a beautiful painting of the war memorial prepared by artist Param Datta.
