After release from the fighter aircraft, the LRB guided to a land-based target with accuracy within specified limits, the DRDO announced.

As per an official, all the mission objectives were successfully met. The flight of the bomb and the performance was monitored by a number of range sensors, including EOTS, telemetry and radar deployed by Chandipur-based Integrated Test Range in Odisha.

Designed and developed by Hyderabad-based DRDO’s lab Research Centre Imarat, the LRB will fulfil the requirements of the Indian Air Force of precision-guided weapons. In 2019, the DRDO had also tested an indigenously-developed 500kg guided bomb from fighter jet Sukhoi-30MKI at Pokhran range in Rajasthan.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated the teams associated with successful flight trials and stated that this will prove to be a force multiplier for the Indian armed forces.
