Neera Tanden, the Desi American who may be Joe Biden's budget chief

United States President elect Joe Biden could nominate Indian American Neera Tanden to the office of Management and Budget as director. 

To simplify, Neera Tanden could be given the responsibility of managing the Biden administration's Budget. If confirmed by the United States Senate, she would be the first Indian American to head the influential Office of Management and Budget at the White House.

Currently, Neera Tanden is the president and CEO of the Center for American Progress and the CEO of the Center for American Progress Action Fund.

Neera Tanden, who has a bachelor of science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and a law degree from Yale Law School, has also served in both the Obama and Clinton administrations, as well as on presidential campaigns.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Neera's nomination is part of Biden's plan to build a team of liberal and centrist economic advisors to serve alongside planned Treasury Secretary nominee Janet Yellen.
