Not necessary that a sitting MLA will become Bengal CM when BJP wins: Dilip Ghosh

West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday (March 30) said that the party will form the next government in the state and also mentioned that it is not necessary that only a sitting MLA will become the Chief Minister.
 

In West Bengal, the BJP has entered the election field without the face of the Chief Minister. They are clashing with the TMC with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in front. But who will be the BJP chief minister if the party comes to power? Although more than one name came up, the leadership of the party did not reveal any particular name. however, Dilip Ghosh gave rise to new possibilities.

The BJP has fielded four sitting MPs, three from Lok Sabha including Union Minister Babul Supriyo, and Swapan Dasgupta, who was in Rajya Sabha, in the Assembly polls, but Dilip Ghosh is not among them.

On asked about whether a sitting MLA will become the Chief Minister if the BJP wins, Dilip Ghosh said, “It is for the party to decide but it is not necessary a sitting MLA will become the Chief Minister.... when Mamata ji became chief minister, she was not an MLA.”

There are about a dozen names in the list of BJP chief ministers, including Dilip Babu. Swapan Dasgupta, Babul Supriya, Tathagata Rayra are contesting. Mithun Chakraborty is ahead in the race even though he did not contest the election.
