India records 18,346 new COVID-19 cases, lowest in over 6 months

According to the government, India's recovery rate has reached its highest since March 2020, standing at 97.93%.

The Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday that India has had 18,346 new COVID-19 infections in the past 24 hours, the lowest number in over six months.

This is the 11th consecutive day that the number of coronavirus cases has stayed below 30,000. In Kerala, there were 8,850 new cases and 149 fatalities.
The death toll has risen to 4.49 lakh, with 263 new victims. The active caseload is 2.52 lakh, with a recovery rate of 97.93%.

According to Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, 70% of India's adult population has received the first dosage of COVID-19 vaccination. According to authorities, 25% of the adult population has received both doses. Until far, more than 91.54 crore vaccination doses have been provided throughout the country.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, the total number of samples examined so far is 57,53,94,042, with 11,41,642 samples reviewed on Monday. Meanwhile, since the immunisation campaign began earlier this year, a total of 91,54,65,826 doses of the viral vaccine had been delivered. On Monday, 72,51,419 of these individuals were injected.

In other news, the Supreme Court granted the Centre's request that 50,000 be given to the family of individuals who died after catching the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai civic authority has informed the Bombay High Court that it does not anticipate a third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the city since the vaccination effort is progressing well. It further informed that with over 42 lakh individuals fully vaccinated and over 82 lakh people receiving the first dose.
