Coronavirus: India’s active cases fall, recover rate at 98.07%

India on Thursday reported 18,987 Covid cases, 17% higher than yesterday, according to the Union Ministry of Health data.

India clocked 18,987 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, 19.99% higher than yesterday, taking the total number of infections to 3,40,20,730. While 246 fatalities took the death toll to 4,51,435, according to the Union Ministry of Health data on Thursday.

With a decline of 1,067 active cases in the last 24 hours, the total active caseload stands at 2,06,586. The active cases comprise 0.61% of the total infections, the ministry said.

A total of 19,808 patients recuperated from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, pushing the total recoveries to 3,33,62,709 across the country. India's recovery rate currently stands at 98.07%.
 

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, a total of 13,01,083 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of Covid-19 in the country to 58,76,64,525.

So far, over 96.82 crore Covid vaccine doses have been administered in the country under the nationwide vaccination drive.
