Coronavirus: India clocks lowest daily COVID cases in 224 days with 14,313 fresh cases; recoveries at 98.04%

India saw the lowest daily rise in Covid cases on Tuesday since early March as 14,313 fresh infections were reported, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

Marking the slowest rise in daily infections in 224 days, India reported 14,313 fresh Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, pushing the country's total tally of cases to 3,39,85,920. While 181 fatalities took the death toll to 4,50,963, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.

The active cases declined by 12,449, taking the country's active caseload to 2,14,900, the ministry data showed. The active cases constitute 0.63% of the total Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, 26,579 patients recuperated from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,33,20,057. The current recovery rate is 98.04%, highest since March 2020.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, as many as 58,50,38,043 tests have been conducted so far across the country, of which 11,81,766 tests were conducted on Monday.

India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 95.89 crore, with the administration of 65,86,092 doses in the last 24 hours under the nationwide vaccination drive.
