Coronavirus: India reports slight dip in daily infections, active cases rise for two straight days

India reported 42,015 new cases and 3,998 deaths in the last 24 hours on Wednesday, according to data updated by the Health Ministry.

India on Thursday recorded 41,383 new cases and 507 more deaths due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), as per the data provided by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the toll on Thursday is 3,491 less than that of Wednesday’s when 3,998 deaths were recorded as Maharashtra reconciled its death count with 3,509 previously unreported fatalities.

The number of active cases went up by 2,224 to 4,09,394, while 38,652 persons recovering over the past 24 hours, took the total recoveries to 3,04,29,339.

The number of active cases remained below five lakh for the eleventh consecutive day.

As many as 38,652 recoveries were witnessed in the last 24 hours, taking the number to 3,04,29,339 so far.

With the new cases, the Coronavirus tally in the country has reached 1,10,46,914 including 1,51,708 active cases and 1,07,38,501 discharges. The death toll has mounted to 1,56,705 with the loss of 138 lives.

A total of 450,911,712 samples have been tested for the Covid-19 disease till now, of which 1718,439 were tested in the last 24 hours, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said on Thursday.

India has administered a total of 22,77,679 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 41,78,51,151.
