Coronavirus: India reports lowest rise in daily COVID-19 cases in 215 days, recovery rate at 98%

India has reported 18,132 new Covid-19 cases and 193 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

India on Monday registered a decline in its daily infections as 18,132 new coronavirus cases were reported in the last 24 hours, lowest in 215 days. The country’s total tally of cases rose to 3,39,71,607, while 193 fresh fatalities pushed the death toll to 4,50,782, according to the Union Health Ministry data on Monday.

The total active cases stand at 2,27,347, the lowest in 209 days, with a decline of 3624 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the data. Active cases currently account for 0.67% of the total cases, the lowest since the beginning of the pandemic.

Meanwhile 2,15,63 people were discharged, taking the total recoveries to 3,32,93,478. India's recovery rate stood at 98%, also the highest since March 2020.

India has administered a total of 95,19,84,373 doses in the last 24 hours, which has taken the total tally of doses administered to 46,57,679, under the nationwide vaccination drive.
