India logged 18,166 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours which is the lowest in 214 days, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) data on Sunday. This pushed the total Covid caseload in India to 3,39,53,475, while 214 fatalities took the death toll to 4,50,589.
The number of active cases has declined to 2,30,971, the lowest in 208 days, according to Union Health Ministry data on Sunday. The active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.68%.
A total of 23,624 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 33,271,915. India's recovery rate stands at 97.99%, the highest since March 2020.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, as many as 12,83,212 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the number of cumulative tests to 58,25,95,693 so far.
The cumulative doses administered in the country so far has exceeded 94.70 crore, under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive.
