Coronavirus: India reports 40,120 new COVID-19 cases, highest recovery rate at 97.46%

India has witnessed a steady decline in coronavirus infections and the recovery rate has been improving.
 

With 40,120 new cases, India’s Covid-19 cumulative tally rose to 3,20,77,706 with Kerala and Maharashtra contributing the most to the national tally.

The number of deaths climbed to 4,30,285 with 585 fresh fatalities, the Union Health Ministry data showed.

The active cases load currently stands at 3,85,227, while as many as 3,13,02,345 people have recovered from the disease so far, the data updated at 8 am showed.

India reported its highest recovery rate today at 97.46%, while the weekly positivity rate remained below 5% and currently stands at 2.13%. Moreover, the daily positivity rate climbed to 2.04%.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, a total of 48,94,70,779 samples were tested up to August 12, of which, 19,70,495 samples were tested yesterday.

A total of 52.36 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive so far.
