Coronavirus: India logs 41,195 new cases, 490 deaths; recovery rate soars to 97.45%

For the first time in the past six days cases again crossed the 40k mark on Wednesday.

India registered 41,195 new coronavirus infections in a day taking the total tally of Covid-19 cases to 3,20,77,706, while 490 deaths in the past 24 hours took the toll to 4,29,669, according to the Union Health Ministry data shared on Thursday.

While the active cases increased to 3,87,987, the active cases comprise 1.21% of the total infections, the ministry said.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,12,60,050, the data stated with 39,069 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 97.45%.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, 48,73,70,196 samples have been tested up to August 11 for Covid-19, of which, 21,24,953 samples were tested on Wednesday.

A total of 52.36 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive.
