Coronavirus: India reports 39,796 fresh COVID-19 cases in a day, recovery rate rises to 97.11%

 India has reported 39,796 new virus cases and 723 deaths in the last 24 hours, while daily recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for the 53rd consecutive day.

This is the ninth consecutive day with less than 50,000 new cases reported in a day. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the recovery rate of the country has climbed to 97.11%.

With 42,352 recoveries in the last 24 hours, daily recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for the 53rd consecutive day.

Meanwhile, the active caseload has further declined to 4,82,071. It constitutes merely 1.55% of total infections.

According to the Health Ministry, the daily positivity rate stands at 2.61%, which is less than 5% for 28 consecutive days. The weekly positive rate stands at 2.40%.

A total of 15,22,504 samples were tested yesterday for detection of Covid-19. So far, the country has tested a total of 41,97,77,457 samples, as per Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
