Coronavirus: India reports 22,431 new COVID-19 cases; active cases lowest in 204 days

According to Union Health Ministry data, there are currently 2,44,198 active COVID cases in the country — the lowest in 204 days. The total number of cases is now 3,38,94,312 and 4,49,856 individuals have died as a result of the virus.

According to the Union Health Ministry, India registered 22,431 new COVID-19 cases and 318 fatalities in the previous 24 hours.
In Kerala, 12,616 new cases and 134 deaths have been reported in the previous 24 hours. According to Union Health Ministry data, there are currently 2,44,198 active COVID cases in the country — the lowest in 204 days. The total number of cases is now 3,38,94,312 and 4,49,856 individuals have died as a result of the virus.

The overall number of recoveries increased to 3,32,00,258, with 24,602 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The current recovery rate is 97.95 per cent, while the weekly positive rate is 1.68 per cent.
Meanwhile, in the previous 24 hours, 43,09,525 COVID-19 vaccine doses were delivered, bringing India's COVID-19 immunisation coverage to 92.63 crores.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 30,000 for 13 straight days. The active cases comprise 0.72 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.95 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

This year, India increased the Covid caseload between April and May, when cases reached 4 lakh in a single day. However, when the vaccine campaign gained up steam from June onwards, the illness spread slowly.
At the time, only Kerala has the highest number of cases in the country. On Wednesday, the state reported 12,616 new coronavirus infections and 134 fatalities. Maharashtra, on the other hand, recorded 2,876 new coronavirus-positive cases in 24 hours.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reported on Thursday that 14,31,819 Covid-19 tests were performed on Wednesday.
In the meantime, 43,09,525 doses of Covid-19 vaccination have been delivered in the previous 24 hours.
