Coronavirus: India logs massive spike in daily cases; recovery rate still stands at 97.67%

India recorded a massive spike of 37,593 new Covid-19 cases and 648 deaths in the past 24 hours.

India on Wednesday recorded a massive jump in the daily caseload with 37,593 new cases, along with 648 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours, according to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry.

With this, the overall tally of Covid-19 cases stood at 32,512,366 and the death toll rose to 4,35,758, according to the updated data.

Meanwhile, the active caseload stood at 3,22,327 with an increase of 2,776 cases in a span of 24 hours, accounting for less than 1% of total cases. While the national recovery rate is still at 97.67% with the number of people recuperating from the disease surging to 3,17,54,281.

According to the Health Ministry's release, so far, 51,11,84,547 samples have been tested to detect Covid-19. Of which, 17,92,755 samples were tested on Tuesday.
