Coronavirus: India logs lowest daily COVID case rise in 238 days; recovery rate at 98.19%

India reported 12,428 new cases and 356 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

India on Tuesday reported a huge decline in Covid-19 cases with 12,428 new cases, taking the total tally to 3,42,02,202. The death toll climbed to 4,55,068 with 356 fresh fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

Meanwhile, the country's active caseload stands at 1,63,816, lowest in 241 days as active cases declined by 3,879 in the last 24 hours. The active cases account for less than 1 per cent of total cases, currently at 0.48 per cent, the lowest since March 2020.

A total of 15,951 recoveries in the last 24 hours, took the total recoveries to 3,35,83,318 across the country, the ministry said. The recovery rate currently stands at 98.19 per cent, highest since March 2020.
 

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, 11,31,826 tests were conducted on Monday, pushing the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of Covid-19 in the country to 60,19,01,543.

So far, the cumulative doses administered in the country have exceeded 102.94 crore under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive.
