Coronavirus: India logs 36,083 new COVID-19 cases; recovery rate soars to 97.45%

India reported 36,083 new Covid-19 cases, 37,927 recoveries, and 493 deaths, the Health Ministry's bulletin stated on Sunday.

India recorded 36,083 new infections of Covid-19 and 493 fatalities from the disease in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.
 

The new cases took the total caseload to 3,21,92,576, while the death toll rose to 4,31,225.
 

Meanwhile, 37,927 people were discharged taking the recoveries tally to 3,13,38,088 across the country. India's recovery rate now stands at 97.45%.

India's active cases increased by 2,446 in the last 24 hours as the caseload rose to 3,87,673.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, a total of 49,36,24,440 samples have been tested for Covid-19 up to August 14, while 19,23,863 samples were tested on Saturday.

More than 73.5 lakh Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the last 24 hours, taking cumulative tally over 54.38 crore people vaccinated.
