Coronavirus: India clocks 27,254 new infections in last 24 hours; active cases stay below 400,000

India reported a 13% drop in fresh Covid-19 cases in the week ending Sunday, while reporting 27,254 new cases in the last 24 hours.
 

India on Monday registered 27,254 new daily infections of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), below the 30,000-mark for a second straight day, pushing the total infections' tally to 3,32,64,175. The country logged 219 deaths in the past 24 hours due to Covid-19, taking the death toll to 4,42,874, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) data.

Active cases registered a fall, and were recorded at 374,269, constituting 1.13% of the total cases. Kerala alone is responsible for 74.26% of the new cases with 20,240 new Covid cases and 67 deaths.

Meanwhile, 37,687 discharges in the last 24 hours, took the total recoveries to 32,447,032. The recovery rate comprises 97.54% of the cumulative tally.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, 12,08,247 samples were tested for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of samples tested for Covid-19 has risen to 543,014,076 so far.

India administered a total of 53,38,945 doses in the last 24 hours. A total of 74,38,37,643 doses have been administered so far, under the nationwide vaccination program.
