Don't step in scam, Airtel CEO warns his subscribers

Cyber frauds are increasing day by day as there is a huge surge in online transactions due to the second wave of Covid-19.

Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal warns his 300 million subscribers by giving details about the fraudsters' techniques how to recognise and what to do about it. As reported in GadgetNews, Airtel comes with safety measures, and here's what you need to know.

EKYC fraudsterYou will get a call or text from the name of Airtel saying your KYC (Know Your Customer) form is incomplete and you will be asked to install Airtel Quick Support App. Theres no such app and you will get directed to Team Viewer App through which that fraudster will easily take over your accounts.

OTP hoaxThis has happened a lot of times. A fraudster will call you saying he or she is from a bank or financial institution and will ask an OTP number to unblock your existing account. As soon as you give away the OTP the trickster will withdraw money.

VIP number scamA person will call or text saying he or she is allegedly from Airtel and will promise to give you VIP numbers at a highly discounted price but the decepter will ask for a token number as prepayment. Use Airtel Safe payActivate 'Airtel Safe Pay' to protect yourself from fraudsters. Use this method to do all kinds of online transaction safely. This gives an extra layer of protection. But to use it, one must have an account in Airtel Payments bank. Users can open an account or enable 'Safe Pay' with a maximum amount of Rs 2 lakh. You can link your UPI ids too.
